Pacella Highlights All-MVC Honors for Redbirds

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Illinois State baseball's sophomore Daniel Pacella was named First-Team All-MVC to headline a group of six Illinois State baseball student-athletes honored by the conference, as announced by the conference Monday night (full list of teams/honorees in attached PDF).

Pacella was named First Team All-MVC while redshirt junior Judah Morris, senior Auggie Rasmussen, and junior Joe Husak were named Honorable Mention All-MVC.

Senior Cameron Mabee and junior JT Sokolove were named to the All-Defensive Team. The conference's 10 head coaches were polled and not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.

Pacella, a Mundelein, Ill. native, hit .330 with 11 home runs and 58 RBIs. Pacella played in 49 games, making 49 starts. Pacella had 16 games with multiple RBIs, including two with five or more RBIs. He becomes the first First-Team All-MVC selection since Ryan Cermak in 2022.

Morris, a Mather, Calif. native, hit .284 with 12 home runs, 18 doubles (second-most in Steve Holm era), and 46 RBIs. Morris played in 51 games, making 50 starts. Morris had had 11 games with multiple RBIs, including three with at least four RBIs.

Rasmussen, a Blair, Neb. native, hit .288 with a team-high 15 home runs with 52 RBIs. In MVC play, Rasmussen hit .323 with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs over 25 games. In 2024, Rasmussen played in 43 games, making 41 starts. Rasmussen had had 14 games with multiple RBIs, including two with at five or more RBIs.

Husak, a Cambridge, Iowa made 22 pitching appearances for the Redbirds with a 5-3 record. Husak has thrown 46.1 innings, compiled 34 strikeouts, and six saves, the fifth-most amongst MVC relievers, in 2024. Husak totaled a season-high six strikeouts at Murray State on April 27 and had seven outings with multiple strikeouts.

Sokolove, a Hudsonville, Mich. native, recorded 149 putouts and an assist to earn MVC All-Defensive team honors for the first time in his Redbird career. Rasmussen, who primarily played center field, also had a stellar year at the plate and on the base path.

Sokolove finished the regular season with the second-most stolen bases in the MVC (19) to go along with eight extra-base hits and 22 RBIs at the plate.

Mabee, a Temecula, Calif. native, recorded 14 starts (6-3 record) and an MVC-leading four runners picked off to earn MVC All-Defensive team honors for the first time in his Redbird career. Mabee, who primarily was ISU's Friday night starter, pitched 76.1 innings with a 59:17 strikeout-to-walk ratio to go along with one complete game.
