Fayetteville , Ark.- Junior Mattison Plummer punched her ticket to the NCAA National Championships with her performance on the final day of the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Arkansas.
The Redbirds had three women compete on the final day, with Plummer serving as the highlight of the day. She competed in the 3,000m steeplechase and finished seventh overall to qualify for the NCAA meet with a personal-best time of 10:11.55, moving her up the top 10 list to sixth best in school history.Â
In the field, senior Macy Byer finished 29th in the discus with a personal-best mark of 53.15m (174-4). Byer started in the first flight where she scratched on her first two attempts, then on her final attempt she hit her personal-best mark.Â
On the track for the Redbirds, graduate student Claire Fuhlhage started in the first heat of the 3,000m steeplechase where she ran to a time of 10:44.81 while taking 29th overall.

Senior Amiri Buchanan and Plummer will head to Eugene, Oregon to compete in the NCAA National Championships at Hayward Field on June 5-8.
