ST. LOUIS, Mo. -Â The Missouri Valley Conference has announced this week's Athlete of the Week selections Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore Immaculate Daniel was selected as the MVC's Female Track Athlete of the Week after a historic performance Friday afternoon at the Coughlan-Malloy Cup. Daniel set a new Illinois State 60m dash record with a time of 7.26 to win the event. Daniel broke D'Jenne Egharevba's record mark of 7.33 which was held for over six years.
Daniel's time currently sits as the fastest time in the Missouri Valley Conference and the Midwest Region. Her mark is also tied for tenth in the NCAA Division I rankings.
Daniel becomes the fifth Redbird to earn Athlete of the Week honors this season. She also joins Junior Lindsey Miller as the second Illinois State sprinter to earn Female Track Athlete of the Week honors.
