Women’s Golf Trio Leads Team on Opening Day at Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. – With three golfers inside of the top-30 individually, the Illinois State women's golf team stands in 17th place after the first 36 holes at the Lady Red Wolves Classic.

Louisiana-Monroe has distanced themselves from the field in the team standings with a 559, a dozen strokes ahead of Little Rock's 571. Memphis (574), Morehead State (576), West Georgia (578), Missouri State (581), Troy (589), UAB (589), Arkansas State (589), Samford (591), North Alabama (593), Utah Tech (599), Austin Peay (599), Mississippi College (601), Murray State (604), and Southern Illinois (611) stand just ahead of ISU's 613.

Elise Fennell is tied for 16th after the first 36 holes, while Dani Grace Schrock is tied for 25th and Reagan Kennedy tied for 27th with 18 holes to play in the tournament.

Fennell opened her day with a two-under 70 in the first round, with an eagle, a birdie, and 15 pars on her day, while in the second round she had five birdies and eight pars for her one-over 73.

Schrock, at +1 for the 36 holes, opened with a four-over 76, using three birdies and eight pars, before coming back by tying her career-low round with a 69, using four birdies and 13 pars for her -3 round.

Kennedy set a career-best with her opening round of 71 (-1), her first round under par in her career, as she had five birdies and nine pars, before coming back with two birdies and a dozen pars for her three-over 75.

Playing in her first round as a Redbird, ISU newcomer Reagan Braker opened her tournament play with a two-round score of 179.

The Redbirds and the remainder of the field go off in a shotgun start for the third and final round on Tuesday morning, as ISU looks to climb the leaderboard over the final 18 holes.
