SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – The Missouri Valley Conference league office has announced this week's (10/13) women's soccer players of the week. Redbird Freshman Grace Petrie was named this week's MVC Freshman of the Week.
For the second consecutive week, Petrie has earned MVC Freshman of the Week honors. The Redbirds have now had a player for the seventh straight week, matching the longest streak since 2019.
On Saturday, Petrie helped the Redbirds pick up a 1-0 win over UNI in Cedar Falls. With the win, Illinois State has remained unbeaten in seven straight games. The Redbirds recorded their fourth straight shutout and ninth overall this season. Illinois State now ranks tied for sixth for the most shutouts in the country this season.
Petrie continues to lead the Redbird freshmen with 1281 minutes played this season. In the last 11 games, Petrie has played all 90 minutes.
