Redbirds Head To Terre Haute For Sunday Challenge With Indiana State

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State soccer is set to travel to Terre Haute, Ind., for a contest with Indiana State at Memorial Stadium Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. and will be available to watch on ESPN+.

Thursday's meeting marks the 32nd meeting between the two programs as Illinois State holds a 22-8-1 record over Indiana State, including a 9-5-1 record in Terre Haute. In last year's contest, the Redbirds prevailed in a 3-1 victory following goals from Sophomore Eiley Henderson, Sophomore Eve Gricius, and Senior Abby Hall.

The Redbirds travel to the Hoosier State following a 1-0 victory over Drake Thursday evening at Adelaide Street Field. The victory moved the Redbirds into first place in the Missouri Valley Conference, and Illinois State secured a spot at the conference tournament for the second season under head coach Raleigh DeRose.

Illinois State prevailed following a 79th-minute goal from Senior defender Jade Rehberger in her last regular-season appearance at Adelaide Street Field. Rehberger's goal marked the first goal she has scored in her collegiate career. Sophomore Rylie Monohan also earned her first collegiate assist on Rehberger's goal

Thursday's win marked the first time Illinois State didn't suffer a defeat at Adelaide Street Field in conference play since 2016. In their last nine games, the Redbirds remain unbeaten, which matches the longest streak since 2019.

With the shutout, Illinois State tallied its 11th shutout of the season, which sits tied for third in the nation. In the last six games, the Redbirds haven't conceded a goal and are one of four teams in the country to accomplish the feat. Redshirt Madi Valenti earned her 10th shutout of the season, which matches the most by a Redbird goalkeeper in a single season in program history.

The Sycamores return home to host the Redbirds after securing a 1-0 win over Southern Illinois on Thursday in Carbondale, Ill. Indiana State is led by Paul Lawrence, who is in his third season as head coach following a six-year stint at Florida Southern College.
