NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State track & field program closed out action from four meets on Friday evening.
The Redbirds competed at four meets on Friday, including the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational, WashU Distance Carnival, and Redbird Challenge.
At the Texas Relays, Sophomore Immaculate Daniel picked up where she left off from the indoor season after she ran a time of 11.50 in the women's 100m dash to open her outdoor season. Daniel's time now sits second in Illinois State history and saw her qualify for Saturday's 100m dash final.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Welch, Nwagwu, Paul, and Ward continued their momentum after claiming the 2025 MVC Indoor Championship with a time of 3:09.56. Their mark is a personal best for the group and the 10th fastest time in Illinois State history.
In San Marcos, Texas, for the Bobcat Invitational, Senior Sean Hopkins made his return to action in the men's long jump. Hopkins opened his outdoor season with a jump of 6.73m (22-1). In the women's 200m, Juniors Lindsey Miller and Erin Starks ran times of 24.14 and 24.22 to finish in 10th and 12th.
At the WashU Distance Carnival, Junior Viviana Sanfillipo ran a personal best time of 17:58.31 in the women's 5000m. On the men's side, Senior Noah Penry ran a time of 15:20.77, and Senior Ian Geisler finished with a mark of 15:05.62.
Back home in Normal, the Redbird throwers kicked off their outdoor campaign in the hammer throw on day one of the Redbird Challenge. Sophomore Cole Stevens recorded a personal best throw of 53.84m (176-7) to finish third. Junior Anthony Smith tallied a throw of 51.01m (167-4) in a sixth-place effort. On the women's side, Sophomore Adison Scott recorded a throw of 46.85m (153-8) to finish fifth.
