Track & Field Claims Multiple Top-10 Marks In Last Home Meet Of Season

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State track & field program closed out the Senior Spotlight Friday afternoon at the Redbird Track & Field Complex. 

In the last home meet of the season, the Redbirds brought their best for the hometown fans. Illinois State picked up four new top-10 marks and several personal bests across the day.

Junior Rob Pulliam entered the top-10 list for the men's long jump with a leap of 7.20m (23-7.50). Pulliam's mark now ties him for 10th in program history for the event.

Freshman Zach Paul joined the top-10 list for the men's 100m dash after he ran a time of 10.42. Paul's mark moves him to sixth place in Redbird history.

Senior Kiley Sanders showed out in her last appearance at home with a top-10 mark of 1.75m (5-8.75) in the women's high jump. Sanders now sits tied for eighth in the Illinois State record book.

Freshman Victor Byaundaombe became the second freshman on the day to enter the top-10 list. Byaundaombe recorded a jump of 15.32m in the men's triple jump to move to seventh all-time in program history.

Sophomore Jonathan Tegel picked up the win in the men's 400m hurdles with a new personal best mark of 54.22.

In the men's 1500m, the Redbirds claimed the top-three spots with Ian Geisler securing the win with a personal best time of 3:51.50. Freshmen Blake Oleson and Luke Barham followed with their own personal bests of 3:52.82 and 3:54.42.

Freshman Josh Weeks claimed the event win in the men's 5000m. On his way to the win Weeks ran a personal best time of 15:13.35.

Sophomore Cole Stevens secured the top spot in the men's hammer throw with a personal best throw of 57.83m (189-8). On the women's side, Sophomore Adison Scott recorded a career best of 51.85m (170-1).

On her path to winning the women's long jump, Senior Atleigh Hamilton tallied a season-best mark with a jump of 5.69m (18-8).

Senior Madison Saunders won the women's triple jump with a season-best leap of 12.15m (39-10.50).

The Redbird squad will split to travel to Bloomington, Ind., and Terre Haute, Ind., for the Billy Hayes Invitational and Sycamore Open. Both events will be single-day events scheduled for May 9.
