NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State soccer is set to travel to Green Bay for a road contest against the Phoenix at Festival Foods Field at Aldo Santaga Stadium. Kick off on Sunday is set for 1 p.m.
The Redbirds will head to Green Bay, Wis., following a 5-1 defeat at Butler on Thursday, August 21. Freshman Rylann Law tallied her first career collegiate goal with a score in the 56th minute. Freshman Grace Petrie assisted Law and also recorded her first collegiate assist.Â
Green Bay enters Sunday's matchup with Illinois State with a 0-2-0 record after falling to Omaha 6-3 in their most recent game on August 17. The Phoenix are led by first-year head coach Matt Kagan, who previously worked as an assistant at Washington State and served for three seasons as the head coach at Oregon State.
Sunday's contest will be the 16th meeting all-time between the two programs after each met in the season opener last year. The Redbirds secured a 2-1 victory over the Phoenix in head coach Raleigh DeRose's first game at the helm of Illinois State. Redshirt Junior Sammi Cenek and Sophomore Chloe Cline each scored their first career collegiate goals in the game.
Illinois State currently holds a 12-3-0 record against Green Bay, including a 4-2-0 record in road contests. The Redbirds will travel to Green Bay for the first time since 2008, where Illinois State secured a 2-1 win.Â
