Redbirds Travel To Saint Louis For Contest On Sunday

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State soccer is set to close out its non-conference schedule with a meeting with Saint Louis on Sunday at Robert R. Herman Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and will be available on ESPN+.

Sunday's meeting with the Billikens will be the eighth contest between the two programs. Saint Louis holds a 4-2-1 advantage in the all-time series and won the last matchup 2-0 in August 2021 at Adelaide Street Field.'

In the first meeting between Saint Louis and Illinois State, the Redbirds scored their first-ever goal at Adelaide Street Field in 1996 as Kathie Kaeche scored the first goal for Illinois State in a 2-2 draw.

The Redbirds will travel to Saint Louis after recording a 0-0 draw against Eastern Illinois. The tie marked the first-ever draw in the series with the Panthers. Illinois State tallied its fourth shutout in five games with the draw. In the last five games, the Redbirds have allowed just one goal, which is the fewest in that span under head coach Raleigh DeRose and the fewest since 2019, when Illinois State notched five straight shutouts.

Saint Louis enters Sunday's game after a 3-0 win over SIUE on Sunday, September 7th. The Billikens are led by Katie Shields, who enters her 13th season at the helm of Saint Louis. Shields has led the Billikens to new heights as last season she led them to their sixth regular-season title in seven years and seventh straight A-10 conference tournament championship.
