Redbirds Post Season-High Score In Dual Meet Win Over Centenary

NORMAL, Ill. – In its second meet of the weekend, Illinois State competed against Midwest Independent Conference foe Centenary for the second time in three days as it hosted the ladies at Horton Field House. The Redbirds were consistent throughout and finished with a huge score on the floor to come away with a 193.700-185.575 win over Centenary on Sunday afternoon.

Scoring Breakdown:
•    Illinois State: 193.700
•    Centenary: 185.575

Thoughts From Coach Ringer:
"We still have some fine tuning to do but overall, I was extremely happy with their performance today especially coming off a double meet weekend. The mental toughness they have been able to grow and develop is special and I'm so proud of how they have progressed over the past couple of months and particularly over the past two weeks. I stress to the group to just get one percent better each week or find that hidden tenth that will help us score better next time. My goal for them today was to just keep going and persist and that's exactly what they did."

Team Notes:
•    Illinois State started the meet with a big score of 48.450 on vault to take the early lead in the meet over their MIC foe.
•    Following a sub-par rotation on bars on Friday night, the Redbirds rallied with a strong effort of 48.075 on the event against Centenary to take a commanding lead halfway through the competition.
•    The third rotation was also a strong one for the Redbirds, as they put together a team score of 48.325 to take a running score of 144.850 to the floor for the final event of the day.
