NORMAL, Ill. – For the second time in a row, the Illinois State gymnastics squad will compete in front of its home fans as the Redbirds welcome in Mid-American Conference in-state foe Northern Illinois for a dual-meet at Horton Field House.
SETTING THE SCENE
The Redbirds will face off against the Huskies in their final home meet of the regular season, before hosting the Midwest Independent Conference Championships on March 20. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CT at Horton Field House and will be streamed live on ESPN+, with live stats will be available via Virtius.
SCOUTING ILLINOIS STATE
• The Redbirds enter the weekend ranked 55th nationally with an average score of 193.143.
• Last time out, Illinois State led midway through the meet, but Southeast Missouri State rallied to pick up a 194.150-192.475 win over the Redbirds on Senior Night.
• ISU got off to a solid start to the meet, scoring 48.625 on vault, the second-highest score on the event for the Redbirds this season.
• Madyson Baucom took home the event win on bars, scoring 9.700 with teammates Jada Beswick and Jercy Koliego right behind in a tie for second place with scores of 9.675.
• On floor, the Redbirds had a pair of scores of 9.800 from seniors Jaly Jones and Leah Davis as they tied for second place overall.
SCOUTING NORTHERN ILLINOIS
• Northern Illinois ranks No. 59 in the national rankings, coming in with an average of 192.675.
• NIU set a new season high on vault Bowling Green last Sunday, finishing with a team score of 48.850 and sweeping the top three finishes.
• On Friday, the Huskies finished in second place in the Beauty and the Beast Meet and finished with a team score of 191.700, while SEMO took first place with 193.900 and Wilberforce rounded out the three with 180.775.
• Junior Dawsyn Sallee tied a career-high on vault with a 9.850 and took first in the routine. Jocelyn Harbeck and sophomore Drake White also tied career-highs in the meet. Harbeck earned a score of 9.800
• Junior Mikayla Brown won on beam for the first time this season, tying a season-high 9.800.
