MUNCIE, Ind. – The Illinois State gymnastics team posted a season-high score on bars and sophomore Savannah Ray posted a career-best on the vault, as the Redbirds came in third with a score of 193.975 on Sunday at Ball State against the host Cardinals and Kent State.
Scoring Breakdown:
•   Ball State: 195.300
•   Kent State: 194.650
•   Illinois State: 193.975
Thoughts From Coach Ringer:
"There were so many things that went well today, and I was pleased with so much stuff, but we must find a way to finish a meet strong. For the past several meets, we have had three strong rotations and then we just can't close it out on that final rotation. We are trying to continue to develop doing your gymnastics under pressure when you are close to winning a meet. I think we are gaining that experience, but it takes some time, and you can only replicate that so much in the gym. We are working on adjusting and improving on other events and there is still improvements to be made, but there were some good things out there today."
Team Notes:
•   Illinois State posted a season-high team score on bars with a 48.925, thanks to three scores of 9.8 or higher.
•   On vault, the Redbirds were also solid, going 48.575 with two scores of over 9.800, and they posted a similar score on the floor of 48.550.
•   However, the final rotation on beam was not as strong for the Redbirds, as they scored 47.925 to finish just shy of a team season-best score for the second meet in a row.
