Redbirds Climb One Spot on Second Day of Championship

SILVIS, Ill. – On the second of three days at the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, the Illinois State Redbirds carded the third-lowest team score on the day, as ISU climbed a spot in the standings, and are just six shots away from being inside of the top five in the final standings.

Bradley (610) leads the field with 18 holes to play, while Murray State (622), Belmont (625), and Drake (632) round out the top four schools in the field. Illinois State – with a two-round 645 – stands within at six strokes of moving into the top five, of which include UIC (639), Southern Illinois (641), Indiana State (641), and Evansville (643). Northern Iowa (656) and Valparaiso (688) round out the 11 schools in the tournament field.

Alex Sparrow's five-over 77 consisted of two birdies and nine pars, as she climbed 14 places in the individual standings to a tie for 31st place in the field, as her 77 is tied for the seventh best tournament score on the day.

Elise Fennell is inside of the top 10 with 18 holes to play after a second round 77 (+5) – also tied for the seventh best round on the day in the field – in which she had a pair of birdies and nine pars, and heads into the final round in a tie of seventh place. Her 4.25 stroke per par-four during the first two rounds are tied for the fourth-best score in the tournament field.

Reagan Kennedy's second-round 82 has her in 26th place in the field, as she had ten pars on her round, while Dani Grace Schrock's second-round 80 used three birdies – over three consecutive holes –adding eight pars, and is in a tie for 41st place with a round to play. Reagan Braker finished with an 88, using seven pars and stands in 49th place with one round remaining in the tournament.

The Redbirds – and the other 10 schools in the conference – return to the course tomorrow morning for the third and final round of the Championship.
