CHAMPAIGN, Ill. --Â The Illinois State track and field squad represented well on Friday, as the Redbirds split up between the Illini Tune-Up hosted by the University of Illinois and the Billy Hayes Invitational run by Indiana University.
Six Redbirds won their events in Champaign. Leading the way was Reece Curtis, who won the 200m dash with a personal-best time of 21.02 to move into a tie for 10th in program history.
Aidan Wyzard took the 100m dash title with a time of 11.05, and Kane Shields rounded out the Redbird winners on the track with a season-best mark of 3:50.00 in the 1500m.
In the field, Garrett Taylor won the men's discus with a throw of 55.82m, while Sienna Robertson took the women's discus title with a personal-best mark of 46.73m. Kiera Fax earned gold in the javelin with a personal-best mark of 37.50m.
While the Redbirds didn't have an event winner in Indiana, Pauline Schedler still posted an impressive showing, finishing runner-up in the 800m with a time of 2:05.99 to move into third in program history.
Twenty other Redbirds finished in the top five across the Illini Tune-Up and the Billy Hayes Invitational.
At the Illini Tune-Up, Jaiden Reed placed second in the 200m with a season-best time of 21.58, while Blake Oleson finished third in the 1500m with a personal-best time of 3:51.99. Will Gelon took fourth in the 1500m with a personal-best 3:54.49, and Quinn Davis placed fifth with a personal-best 3:55.01.
In the discus, Jacob Rollins finished third with a throw of 48.83m, followed by Zach Cowper in fourth at 47.84m. Brianna Brodie earned second place with a personal-best mark of 46.09m, while Adison Scott took third with a season-best 43.80m and Morgan Foes placed fourth with a season-best 39.93m.
In the hammer throw, Cole Stevens placed third with a mark of 61.19m, Isaias Lopez finished fifth at 54.99m, and Scott added a fifth-place finish with a personal-best 55.97m.
In the men's shot put, Jo Atkins finished fourth with a throw of 17.20m, while Jacob Klink placed fifth at 17.08m.
Fax earned third place in the women's shot put with a mark of 14.02m, Carmyn Huston took fourth at 12.87m and Chidiogo Odeluga finished fifth with a throw of 10.74m. Huston also earned second place in the javelin throw with a mark of 32.00m, while Isabelle Hemmen placed fifth in the pole vault at 3.82m.
At the Billy Hayes Invitational, Cayde de Waal finished fourth in the collegiate 1500m with a time of 3:50.22, while Julian Baker took fifth in the 1500m invite with a mark of 3:45.93
