Illinois State sophomore Christian Goy finished 12th in the finals of the mens 1,500-meter run at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Saturday, at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Goy completed the race in three minutes, 47.48 seconds and missed the chance to become a two-time all-American by 5.18 seconds. Goy, who was a member of the ISU distance medley relay team that finished second at the indoor meet last year, entered the national meet with the 18th best time in the country and qualified for the 12-man final heat.
Stanfords Gabe Jennings won the event with a time of three minutes, 37.76 seconds, followed by Cardinal teammate Michael Stember in second-place.
The concludes the outdoor track and field season for Illinois State and the coaching career of John Coughlan, who guided the Birds the last 23 years.
