Newcomers
Harry Lattimore and
Sam Serrano all turned in strong performances for the Illinois State mens and womens track and field team Sunday afternoon at the Alabama Relays.
After finishing 12th in the long jump on Saturday, Tobler took 10th in the triple jump with a leap of 494 3/4. Fellow Redbird freshman Casey Gantt jumped 479 for 13th in the same competition.
Lattimore, a native of Peoria and a transfer from Missouri Valley CC, captured 11th in the shot put with a heave of 500 1/2.
On the womens side, All-American Sam Serranos hammer throw of 1591 earned her sixth-place while Nicole Blow took 13th in the triple jump with 376.
Next Saturday the Redbird tracksters travel to Palo Alto, Calif. to participate in the Cardinal Invite.
