Latisha Johnson placed third in the shot put with a throw of 46-8 to lead the Illinois State women's track team at the Iowa Musco Twilight V Saturday in Iowa City, Iowa. The women placed ninth in the competition while the men placed eighth.
Minnesota was first on the women's side followed by host Iowa while Illinois was first in team results for the men.
Other notable finishes for the Redbird women include Laura Kennedy who placed third in the 3000 meter steeplechase, Cherise Devers and Alia Hoyle who placed 10th and 11th in the 100 meter dash, Dineisha Norman and Melanie Zimmerman who placed sixth and seventh in the triple jump and Betsy McDonald who placed ninth in the 1500 meters.
On the men's side, Walter Ogola won the unseeded 1500 meter run for the REdbirds with a time of 3:58.91. Rhett Hillard was fourth in the shot put, Chivas Hemphill placed fourth in the triple jump and ninth in the long jump while JaRod Tobler placed eighth in the 100 meters.

The Illinois State track and field teams will finish the outdoor season at the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships held in Carbondale, Ill., on May 15-17.
