Track and Field adds Oklahoma State Long Jumper

The Illinois State track and field team has added a new athlete to its roster as former Oklahoma State long jumper Desiree Brown joined the Redbirds. Brown, who has one year of eligibility remaining, will compete in the long jump during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. The Duncan, Okla., native was an All-State honorable mention selection in cross country during her senior season at Duncan High School. She jumped a distance of 16-00.25 at the Sooner Indoor Meet last season. Brown comes to Illinois State in an exchange program that allows her to take part in an on-campus internship while taking classes at ISU. Desiree has a contagious personality that can help her become a leader, Illinois State track and field head coach Elvis Forde said. She brings a lot of experience to the long jump and she is a very fine student as well. --ISU--
