Bach Leads Redbirds to Third Place Finish

Chelsea Bach finished in second place with a two round total of 151. Bach helped lead the Illinois State womens golf team to a third place finish at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill. The Redbirds shot a two-round total of 630 (316,314), leaving them with the second lowest round of the day. Bach tied with Murray States Santie Koch for first place, but after they played in a playoff Bach finished the tournament in second. She carded a 74 in round one and a 77 in round two for a total of 151. Head coach Ray Kralis is happy with how Bach performed today. Chelsea had another great day, she played very well today, Kralis said. She really stepped it up and played two solid rounds. Samantha Richdale finished out the day in a tie for 10th place recording a 160 (78,82), Katie Laehn finished in a tie for 12th carding a 161 (81,80), and close behind was Ashlie Rose and Ashlee Johnson who tied for 14th with a 162. Rounding out the team competitors for the Birds was Kalia Fuller who placed tied for 56th with a two-round total of 176 (84,92). For individual action Hilary Anderson tied for 21st with a 165 (83,82) and Sarah Loomis tied for 40th recording a 170 (83,87). Host Southern Illinois won the tournament with a 626 (316,310) finishing just 4 strokes ahead of ISU. Close behind in second was Murray State (628), finishing behind ISU was Eastern Kentucky (649) and Northern Iowa (657) to round out the top five. Kralis is overall pleased with the teams efforts. I saw a number of positives today, we just had a few high scores that made it hard to come back from, Kralis added. The course was challenging, but everyone seemed to handle it well. We improved in todays round and overall we looked pretty good out there. The Redbirds return to action April 4-5 in Springfield, Mo. at the Payne Stewart Memorial. ###
