The Illinois State track and field team finished up the indoor season at the Iowa State Qualifier hosted by Iowa State. The meet marked the final meet of the season for the Redbirds; however, Mark Jackson may be a candidate for an at-large bid to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Jackson competed in the weight throw, placing eighth in the event in 62-06.75. The only other male athlete competing for the Redbirds, Bronco Meeks, took seventh in the 800-meters in 1:50.65.
On the women's side, Devon Williams placed fifth in the 60-meter dash clocking in at 7.62, while Lian Lucas clocked in at 24.63 in the 200-meters. Brittney Hourd placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 19-00.75.
Head track and field coach Elvis Forde was not overly excited about the team's performance.
"After our performance last weekend at the conference championships, it's hard to come back the next weekend and compete at a high level," Forde said. "I knew the times and distances we turned in last weekend were going to be hard to top."
The `Birds will be back in action, opening the outdoor season, at the Alabama Relays on March 18 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
