BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Due to inclement weather, the final round of the Fighting Camel Spring Classic was cancelled. With first day results standing as final, the Illinois State women's golf team finished the 15-team event in a fourth place tie. Junior co-captain Marci Hill and sophomore Stacey Miller each recorded day one 78's, leaving them in a 12th place tie.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms throughout the night and much of the morning rendered the par-72, 6,012-yard Keith Hills Country Club unplayable for the final 18-holes.

Host Campbell University claimed a 14-shot victory over second place Elon. Illinois State recorded a day-one-team-total of 321. Three players tied for the individual title as Marie Ortiz dePinedo and Belen Diaz Cisneros of Campbell, along with Samantha Widmer of Elon each tallied day-one-totals of 74.

Illinois State returns to action Mar. 7-9 as the Redbirds head to Rio Verde, Ariz. to compete in the Rio Verde Collegiate Intercollegiate at the Rio Verde Country Club. Tee times have yet to be announced.
