RIO VERDE, Ariz. - The Illinois State women's golf team currently stands in a seventh place tie with Missouri Valley conference foe Missouri State, after firing a round-two-team total of 310 at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational. The Redbirds have a two-round-team-total of 610 (300, 310) and were led on day two by sophomore Laura Harris, who recorded a round-two-total of 75.

"Laura has really stepped up this weekend," said head coach Darby Sligh. "She is definitely coming into her own and with her consistency, she will help us down the stretch."

Three Redbirds finished round two in the top-40 as redshirt sophomore Marisa Milligan is currently tied for 17th with a two-round-total of 150 (74, 76), sophomore Stacey Miller is tied for 21st with a two-round-total of 151 (71, 80) and junior Marci Hill is tied for 36th after posting a two-round-total of 155 (76, 79).

Milligan, an Auburn transfer is competing in her first event as a member of the Illinois State squad and coach Sligh feels like Milligan will be a key contributor for the Redbirds.

"We definitely see Marisa as a key piece of the puzzle," Sligh said. "She is playing well early and just needs to kick of the rust and get comfortable again."

Illinois State, who fired a season best 300 as a team on Friday, will look to go sub-300 as a team on Sunday.

"Our goal all year has been to have a round below 300," Sligh noted. "We have a great opportunity to do that tomorrow as well as prepare for our next tournament in Gainsville (Fla.)."

Notre Dame leads the 18-team Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational with a two-round-team-total of 584 (294, 290). The Irish also claimed the individual lead Saturday as So-Hyun Park leads individually after posting a two-round-total of 142 (72, 70).

The 56-hole Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational concludes Sunday, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start slated to begin final-round action.
