Glover Named Co-MVC Field Athlete of the Week

March 30, 2010

ST LOUIS - It didn't take long for Illinois State freshman thrower Tim Glover to be recognized for his talent, as he was named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday by the league office. Glover shared the weekly award with Indiana State's Major Clay.

In his first collegiate meet, the Normal, Ill., native broke the school record in the javelin throw with a mark of 226'6" last weekend at the SIU Spring Classic in Carbondale, Ill. Glover topped the previous standard of 216'2" set in 1970 by his father, Robert, and currently leads all throwers in the conference in the event by over eight feet. In addition, Glover's mark currently ranks as the fifth-best throw in the country after the opening weekend of competition.

Glover and the rest of the Redbirds return to action this at the EIU Big Blue Classic in Charleston, Ill. The meet is hosted by Eastern Illinois and will begin on Friday, April 2, and conclude on Saturday, April 3, at O'Brien Field.
