The Illinois State women's golf team is currently sitting in 12th place after the first two rounds of play at the IU Fall Invitational played at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
Leading through the first day of competition for the Redbirds was sophomore Brianna Cooper who finished in a tie for 17th place after a 10-over-par (79-75) performance over the first two rounds of the tournament. Junior Katie Jean will begin play tomorrow in a tie for 46th place after finishing the day 16-over-par (79-81). Sophomore Rachel Powers finished in a tie for 53rd after shooting 18-over-par (81-81) after the first 36-holes of competition. Sophomore Carlee Cossell is currently in 75th after carding a 33-over-par (91-86), senior Hannah Bachman sits in 77th after a two-round score of 36-over-par (96-84). Competing as an individual sophomore Jordyn Wyzgowski will begin the final round in a tie for 39th after finishing at 15-over-par (78-81).
"I think it's important that teams go through adversity throughout the year in order to get stronger and this is our time," stated head coach Darby Sligh. "We need to look within ourselves and make the necessary adjustments. We are too talented a team to be playing like this."
The Redbirds will return to action for the final 18-holes of the tournament Tuesday, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
