Glover Named Valley Men's Field Athlete of the Week

April 5, 2011

ST. LOUIS - After setting a school record in the javelin throw at the EIU Big Blue Classic over the weekend, Illinois State sophomore Tim Glover was named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday by the league office.

This marks the third time in Glover's career that he has received the weekly honor. He earned the award twice during his freshman campaign.

At the first outdoor competition of the 2011 season for the Redbirds, Glover bested the competition in the javelin with a personal-best mark of 249-00. The Normal, Ill., native broke his own record, which he set last season at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships with a throw of 233-11. Glover currently has the second-best throw in the nation among all NCAA Division I competitors in the event, and the best throw in the Valley by nearly 32 feet.

Glover and the rest of the Redbirds return to action Friday, April 8, at the Lee Calhoun Invitational in Macomb, Ill. The meet will be hosted by Western Illinois.
