NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State women's golf team will head to Noblesville, Indiana, to compete in the Hoosier Fall Invitational for its fifth and final tournament of the fall season. The three-day event begins Friday with stroke play beginning at 9:00 a.m., and rounds one and two of match play will begin Saturday at 8:30 a.m., with tee times.
Head coach Darby Sligh is excited to wrap up the fall season with a strong tournament.
"This is a chance for us to finish the fall season on a high note" Sligh said. "The match play format sets up well for us to compete without fear. We will need to be aggressive and stay out of our own way to be successful this weekend against a strong field."
The Redbirds will be led by senior Hayley Guyton, who had a stellar performance at the Johnie Imes Invitational, leading the Redbirds by tying for 30th place with a final score of 222 (79-71-72).
Also competing for the Redbirds will be freshman Kiley Walsh, sophomore Maggie Ambrose, along with seniors Brianna Cooper and Lauren English. Junior Courtnee Cossell will be playing as an individual during the stroke play portion of the event on Friday.
Illinois State will be playing against six other teams including Ball State, Boston College, Eastern Michigan and Fresno State, as well as in-state rivals Illinois and Northern Illinois.
The event will be held at the Purgatory Golf Club, which sits on 6,331 yards and has a par-72.
