DES MOINES, Iowa - The Illinois State women's tennis team was defeated by Drake, 6-1, while on the road in its fourth Missouri Valley Conference match. The Redbirds now sit at an 8-8, 1-3 MVC record.
Freshman Sierra Stone won the lone point for the Redbirds in singles competition, edging Mariel Ante, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, in Singles No. 2. Phyllis Tigges and Madeliene Baillon rallied Maddie Johnson and Lea Kozulic in Doubles No. 1, claiming an 8-7 (3) win.
The Bulldogs (14-4, 4-1 MVC) went on to defeat the Redbirds in Doubles No. 2 and No. 3, securing the doubles point, before sweeping ISU in five of six singles matches.

- Tigges was edged by Klavdija Rebol, 6-3, 1-6, 10-5
- Stone beat Ante, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3
- Johnson defeated Carolina Abello, 6-3, 6-3
- Baillon fell to Nell Boyd, 6-3, 6-4
- Kadi Ilves as swept by Jordan Eggleston, 6-2, 6-2
- Kozulic beat Gabby Phillips, 6-0, 6-4
Doubles
- Tigges and Baillon beat Johnson and Kozulic, 8-7 (3)
- Heather Nisbet and Ilves del to Boyd and Rebol, 8-6
- Abello and Stone were defeated by Eggelston and Ante, 8-4
The Redbirds will resume competition at home on Friday, April 18 at 3 p.m. when they host Evansville.
