NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's tennis team was swept by Drake, 7-0, Friday afternoon at the Evergreen Racquet Club.
In singles competition, ISU fell in all six flights. Junior Kadi Ilves suffered a defeat by Drake's Mariel Ante, 6-4, 6-0, in No. 1 singles, while freshman Donna Haycock fell to Drake's Maddie Johnson in No. 2 singles. Meanwhile, in No. 3 singles, sophomore Chanel Scudiero suffered a loss to Drake's Summer Brills, 6-0, 6-2, while in No. 4 singles, freshman Valerija Gercar was defeated by Drake's Neil Boyd, 6-0, 6-1. Likewise, Drake's Adrienne Jensen beat freshman Catherine Shulman, 6-1, 6-1, in No. 5 singles, while in No. 6 singles, sophomore Natalia Parchowska battle against Drake's Lea Kozullic resulted in a forfeit.
In doubles competition, the duo of Ilves and Haycock fell to Drake's Ante and Jensen, 8-4, in No. 1 doubles. Similarly, the duo of Scudiero and Shulam suffered a setback by Drake's Boyd and Johnson, 8-4, in No. 2 doubles, while Drake's Jordan Eggleston and Tess Herder defeated Gercar and Parchowska, 8-2, in No. 3 doubles.
The Redbirds will head outdoors Saturday, April 4, to the Gregory Street Tennis courts to battle Northern Iowa, beginning at 2 p.m.
