ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Redbird men's tennis team faced a difficult day of competition against Cleveland State, losing the doubles point, and ultimately, its second match of the season to Cleveland State, 4-3, Saturday afternoon. Illinois State's dual record is now 4-2 for the season.
Illinois State lost the doubles point to Cleveland State, but the team of Jakub Eisner and Egehan Sertkaya prevailed in No. 2 doubles competition against the team of Benajmin Slade and Kevin Goth, 6-3. This brings Eisner and Sertkaya's doubles record to 4-2 for dual play, and an overall 7-4 record for the year.
The newly recovered Urh Krajnc Domiter competed in No. 1 singles to defeat Mirko Radosevic, 6-4, 7-5, giving Domiter a 4-2 mark in dual play for the season.
Although they were unsuccessful in doubles, Christoffer Greve and Dylan Steffens stay undefeated in singles during the dual season. Greve competed in No. 4 singles to defeat Benjamin Slade, 6-0, 6-3. Steffens contended in No. 5 singles to best Kevin Goth, 6-2, 6-2.
The next matchup for the Redbirds will be on Feb. 19, against Lipscomb in Nashville, Tennessee starting at 7 p.m.
