MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Illinois State men's tennis team is traveling to Minneapolis, Minnesota on Saturday to compete against Minnesota and Army for the first time in program history.                                             Â
"At this point of the season I think we are starting to find our identity as a team and really getting an idea of the level we can play at," head coach Mark Klysner said. "This weekend, having another opportunity to play a ranked team is a great chance for us to get even better. Army will also present a tough test for our team so I am excited to play them and have a good showing."
Illinois State has had a tough schedule of competition the past two weekends resulting in a 4-4 record for the team. The Redbirds will match up against Army's 5-2 dual record and Minnesota's 3-7 mark.
All eyes will be on sophomore Christoffer Greve and Dylan Steffens as they are undefeated in dual singles play for the season. Greve has an 8-0 record, while Steffens has a 7-0 mark for the spring season. The duo has also competed well in doubles play, producing a 5-1 dual doubles record.
ISU will face Minnesota on Saturday at 5 p.m. before taking on Army at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Baseline Tennis Center.
