KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After two rounds of the Gary Crossley Ford Kansas City Shootout in Kansas City, Missouri, at Shoal Creek Golf Course the Illinois State women's golf team sits in 13th place after shooting a two-round score of 645 (320-325.)
Kiley Walsh leads the way for Illinois State after shooting rounds of 77 and 79 for a total score of 156 and is in a six-way tie for 25th place. Abby Luchtenburg sits in a five-way tie for 51st and shot a score of 161 (79-82.) Renee Solberg shot rounds of 83 and 81 for a total score of 164 and is in a tie for 64th place. Courtnee Cossell is in a four-way for 66th and shot a two-round total score of 165 with rounds of 81 and 84. Maggie Ambrose, competing individually, is in a three-way tie for 74th after shooting a score of 168 (82-86.) Caitlin Sims shot a two-round score of 171 (88-83) and is currently placed 80th.
"We have to walk away from a day like today and never look back," said ISU head coach Darby Sligh. "We must continue to reach inside and grow from these tough days to make sure that they don't happen again. Unfortunately, we have had our share of tough times this Spring, but we will battle as hard as we can tomorrow to claw our way out of this rut."
Topping the team leaderboard is Wichita State with a total two-round score of 603 (310-293) and shooting 27 over-par. Western Michigan's Anna Wilcoxson sits at the top of the individual leaderboard after firing rounds of 73 and 71 for a two-round total of 144 and is equal to par.
The third and final round takes place Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
