Men’s Tennis to Split Weekend Between Chicago State and Marquette

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team will travel to Chicago State Jan. 28 and Marquette Jan. 29.

The Redbirds will face Chicago State at the Chicago State Tennis Courts, beginning at 2 p.m.  ISU will then play Marquette at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium with play beginning at 1 p.m. Last weekend, the ISU men's tennis team returned home for a week of practice after falling to No. 19 Arkansas, dropping their record to 1-2.

"We've had a good week of practice, and I think we will be prepared to play two tough teams this weekend," said head coach Mark Klysner. "We just need to try and stay healthy and play within our games."

Chicago State is currently 0-3 after falling to Louisville and being defeated twice by Purdue. Marquette is 0-1 after being defeated by Minnesota in the dual opener. The Redbirds last competed against Marquette in the fall season at the Illinois State Invitational, where ISU won all four singles matches on day one against the Golden Eagles and won eight out of 12 singles matches overall to start off the invitational.
