Women’s Golf Tees Off Spring Season Friday at Ball State Sunshine Invitational

Live Scoring

The Illinois State women's golf team returns to action Friday for the first time since Seton Hall's Pirate Invitational Oct. 28 when the Redbirds tee off the spring season, as they travel to Port St. Lucie, Florida, to compete in the Ball State Sunshine Invitational at the par-72, 6,074-yard St. Lucie Trail Golf Club Feb. 10-11.

The tournament consists of a 54-hole stroke-play format, with 36 holes being played Friday and the final 18 holes being played Saturday. Both rounds will begin with an 7 a.m. CT shotgun start. Live scoring will be available through Golfstat.com.

The tournament field consists of 12 teams. Joining the Redbirds and host Ball State are Drake, Eastern Kentucky, IUPUI, Keiser, Lamar, Lipscomb, McNeese State, Southern Illinois, Toledo and Valparaiso.

Representing the Redbirds are junior Kiley Walsh, senior Renee Solberg, sophomore Caitlin Sims, freshman Paige Seiser and junior Abby Luchtenburg. Senior Maggie Ambrose will be competing as an individual.

"It feels like an eternity since we have been able to compete, so we are incredibly excited to get on grass and into the sunshine this weekend," said head coach Darby Sligh. "This is a field that we should compete well in, and I am optimistic due to the hard work that has been put in over Christmas break and the last two weeks here on campus."
