NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's tennis team will host two Missouri Valley Conference matches this weekend, as the Redbirds welcome Northern Iowa at 1 p.m. Friday followed by Drake at 10 a.m. Saturday. Friday's match will take place indoors at the Bloomington Tennis Center due to predicted inclement weather. Saturday's match is still scheduled to take place outdoors at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts.
Free breakfast pizza will be provided to fans who attend Saturday's Senior Day Match versus Drake. Lone Redbird senior Marcia Tere-Apisah will play her final regular-season home match. Admission to this weekend's matches, and all matches throughout the season, is free.
Illinois State, currently 8-9 (2-1 MVC), last competed Saturday, when the Redbirds battled back to take home their second MVC win of the season by beating Evansville, 4-3.
UNI is 8-6 (1-2 MVC) this season and last competed April 9 against Wichita State, where the Panthers fell to the Shockers, 7-0. Last season, Illinois State traveled to Waterloo, Iowa, and defeated Northern Iowa, 4-3.
Drake is 9-7 (1-2 MVC) and last competed April 9, against Missouri State, where the Bulldogs defeated the Bears, 4-3. When Illinois State met with Drake last year, The Redbirds fell, 6-1, to the Bulldogs.
