Walsh in Third-Place Tie after 36 Holes of Redbird Invitational

NORMAL, Ill. – Senior Kiley Walsh shot a 4-over-par 148 (72-76) over the first two rounds of the Redbird Invitational Sunday at the par-72, 6,035-yard Weibring Golf Club. She shot an even-par 72 (37-35) to start the day, before shooting a 4-over-par 76 (39-37) over the second 18 holes to sit in a third-place tie on the individual leaderboard (out of 75 student-athletes).

As a team, Illinois State is in a fourth-place tie in the 12-team field with a 617 (308-309).The Redbirds were all alone in fourth place at the conclusion of the first round with a 308, before shooting a 309 in the second round.

Sophomore Paige Seiser, who is playing as an individual, is in a three-way tie for 14th place with a 154 (80-74). After shooting an 80 (37-43) over the first 18 holes, she bounced back with a 2-over-par 74 (37-37) in the second round.

Senior Abby Luchtenburg and junior Caitlin Sims both finished at 155 over the first two rounds and sit in an eight-way tie for 17th place. Luchtenburg shot a 2-over-par 74 (37-37) to start the day and shot an 81 (41-40) in the second round. Sims did the opposite, as she shot an 81 (41-40) in the first round, before battling back to shoot a 2-over-par 74 (34, 40) over the second 18 holes, including a 2-under-par 34 over the front nine.

Making her Redbird debut, freshman Maria Jose Rojas shot a 161 (82-79) playing as an individual. Also playing as an individual, junior Leia Atas carded a pair of 81s to finish one stroke behind Rojas. Sophomore Morgan Savage also shot a 162 (84-78), as she rounded out the team scoring for Illinois State in the second round with a 78 (42-36), including an even-par 36 over her final nine holes of the day.

Freshman Tatum King, also making her Redbird debut, rounded out the first-round team scoring with an 81, before shooting an 89 over the second 18 holes to give her a two-round total of 170 (81-89).

Bradley holds the tournament lead with a 608 (304-304), and the Braves' Ally Scaccia holds the individual lead at 2-under-par after firing two rounds of 71.

The Redbird Invitational concludes Monday morning with the third and final round beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
