EVANSVILLE, IND. – The Illinois State women's golf team's first round score at the par-72 Charles Braun Jr. Intercollegiate tournament is 326. The tournament is being played at the 6,032-yard Oak Meadow Country Club golf course in Evansville, Ind.
The team sits in seventh place going into the final round on Tuesday. Leading the 13-team field is Southern Illinois with a 317 in the first round.
Junior Becca Black and senior Caitlin Sims led the Redbirds through the first round to end in a four-way 17th place tie. The pair scored an 8-over-par 80 in the first day. Paige Seiser ended round one in a tie for 27th place. The junior played a 10-over-par 82.
Sophomore Emma Sutton and junior Morgan Savage played a 12-over-par 84 in the first round of the tournament. The pair sits in an 11-way tie for 38th place before the second round. Individual player for the Redbirds, Tatum King, played an 11-over-par in the first round to put her in a five-way tie for 33rd.
The Redbirds will continue action tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 23, for the final round of the Charles Braun Jr. Intercollegiate.
