ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Illinois State sophomore Elise Fennell has been named the MVC Golfer of the Week - her second time earning this honor in her career - after her weekend of competition at the Lady Red Wolves Classic.
Fennell tied for fourth in the field of 102 golfers using rounds of 70, 73, and 69 for her 212, which is tied for the ninth-lowest tournament score in program history. This season she has seven rounds at or under par, the 10th-most in a season in program history. Her 21 career rounds at or under par are tied for the third-most in program history, alongside Percy Family Athletics Hall of Famer Samantha Richdale.
This season she has played in 12 rounds, and is averaging 72.8 strokes per round with a pair of top-five finishes, including a low round of 69 over the weekend.
ISU - after recently finishing its fall season - return to action on Sunday, February 1 at the UNCG / Advance Golf Partner Collegiate, hosted by UNC Greensboro in West Palm, Florida.
