NORMAL, Ill. – Laura Fitzgerald and Jana Kustkova picked up the sole win for the Redbirds at the Halloween classic on Saturday, defeating Iowa State's Regina Espindola and Ekatarina Grib, 7-5.
The Redbirds came close, but fell short in singles play, going 0-5. Estelle Vanthier dropped a had faught battle to New Mexico's Natasha Munday 7-6, 1-6, 6-2. Tara Damnjanovic also played close with her opponent, but fell short in the end, dropping 1-6,6-2,6-3.
The team will return to play tomorrow at 10 a.m. to finish the New Mexico Halloween classic and conclude the 2018 fall season.
