Normal, Ill. – The Illinois State gymnastics team hosted a tri-meet against Lindenwood and Winona State. Lindenwood won the meet with a score of 193.600, followed by Illinois State with a 191.200, and Winona State came in third with a score of 186.825.
"I'm really happy with how Alyssa Wiggle performed today. She had a great all-around performance," ISU head Coach Bob Conkling said.
Wiggle tied for first in the all-around with a score of 38.650, aided by her solid performances on uneven bars, beam, and the floor exercise. Wiggle scored a 9.725 on all three of those events.
Gabrielle Cooke had a solid performance on vault, where she took first with a score of 9.750 followed by teammate Meredith LaRoche with a 9.725. Cooke also took first on the floor exercise with a score of 9.875.
True Freshman Cameron Topp had a solid performance on beam where she placed second overall with a score of 9.775. Anna Marema had a great performance on the uneven bars, where she took first with a score of 9.750.
"Bars was our overall best event today," Conkling said. "I felt that we hiccupped on floor and on beam. Moving forward we just have to start hitting all four events, and we need to be confident from start to finish."
The Redbirds return to action, Friday, Feb. 9, when they host Central Michigan at 7 p.m. inside Horton Field House.
