Normal, Ill. – After finishing in fourth-place at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship last season, the Redbirds will head into the 2018 Valley Championship looking to compete for the first-place trophy.
Illinois State collected 50 of a possible 100 points in the pre-championship vote of the MVC coaches. Bradley received five of the 10 first-place votes and 93 points to top voting field. Missouri State was second with 88 points and four first-place votes.
Representing the Redbirds are senior Kiley Walsh, junior Caitlin Sims, sophomore Paige Seiser, sophomore Morgan Savage and senior Abby Luchtenburg.
"This is it," said head coach Darby Sligh. "We have had a roller coaster of a year with injuries and overall growing pains and I can honestly say we are starting to put things together at the right time. This weekend's weather looks to be wild which means we will need to be able to constantly adapt and trust our plan. There's not a more capable group out there than this squad and I'm excited to watch them shine."
