Four Former Redbirds to Compete in NACAC Games

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State track and field all-time greats Curtis Jensen, Anderson Devonish, Sade Sealy, and Fabian Norgrove are set to compete in the North American, Central American, and Caribbean Championships, August 10-12 at Varsity Stadium in Toronto, Canada. 

Jensen, who will be representing the United States on an international team for the first time of his career, will throw in the shot put competition on Friday at 5:50 p.m. CT. He is coming off of an impressive summer in which he placed third in the shot put at the USA Track & Field Championships on June 23 with a mark of 20.87m (68-05.75).

Jensen also excelled at a meet in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on July 8, capturing a personal-best heave of 21.63m (70-11), a throw which ranked sixth in the world at the time. He went on to compete in his first Diamond League meet in Monaco the following week, where he placed eighth with a mark of 20.57m (67-06.00) in a loaded field that included the top-eight throwers in the world this year.

Devonish, who will be competing in his third meet of the summer, will represent Barbados in the 400-meter dash semifinals on Friday at 10:10 a.m. CT. He will also race in the 4x400-meter relay on at 3:20 p.m. CT on Sunday.

Devonish competed earlier this summer in the ICBL Barbados National Athletics Championships, where he placed second in the 400-meter dash in 46.75 and fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.95. Devonish also raced in the 400-meter at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Colombia, South America, on July 30, finishing 11th in 47.16.

Sealy and Norgrove will compete for Barbados as well, with Sealy slotted to race in the women's 800-meter semifinals on Friday at 6:10 p.m. CT and Norgrove scheduled to compete in the men's 400-meter hurdles semifinals at 5:45 p.m. CT on Friday.

Both Sealy and Norgrove also raced at the CAC Games in their respective events, with Sealy placing eighth in the 800-meter in 2:06.75. Sealy was recently named to the MVC's Track 25-Year Team after an illustrious career at Illinois State from 2010-13 where she was an eight-time Valley Champion in the 400-meter dash.
