Dave Perkins ties collegiate course record, Redbirds remain in first place in Wisconsin

Madison, Wis. – Dave Perkins helps Illinois State remain in first place after the second round by tying a collegiate tournament record. The Redbirds remain in first place with a four-under-par 572 (287-285).
Perkins was the star of the day's round. Perkins tied the collegiate tournament course record with a score of 65 (-7). He is now tied for third place individually with a five-under-par 139 (74-65). Perkin's day included seven birdies.

"Dave was spectacular today going bogey free in his round of 65 which included a back nine score of 30," coach Ray Kralis said.

Close behind in second is Kansas with a two-under-par 574 (292-282). Iowa State finish round two in fourth with a one-above-par 577 (301-276). Kansas and Iowa were NCAA qualifiers in the 2017-18 season. Host Wisconsin finished the second round in tenth place with a 21-above-par 597 (304-293).

Senior Trent Wallace finished the round similar to the first with a one-under-par, moving his score to a 142 (71-71). Wallace sits in a four-way tie for seventh place individually at two-under-par.

"Trent got off to a great start and established some early momentum for us which we needed," Kralis said.

Sophomore Andrew O'Brien closed the first two rounds at even par on Monday with a score of 74. O'Brien has a current score of 144 (70-74) and is in a five-way tie for 12thplace individually.

Senior Dave Rauer finishes the second round with a total score of 148 (73-75), four-above-par.

Junior Joel Durnford continues his Redbird debut by finishing the second round with 76, bringing his total to 149 (73-79) and five strokes above par.

"The conditions were perfect for round two, so it was no surprise a few teams went low," said Kralis. "While we gave a few back with our third and fourth scores, our veterans carried us and kept right where we want to be going into the final round." Kralis continued, "We'll need a strong team effort tomorrow, and I'm confident we'll be up for the challenge."

The final round of the tournament starts tomorrow with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
