Women’s Tennis to Host Chicago State and UIC

Normal, Ill.  The Redbirds are playing Chicago State this Friday, Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. and UIC on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. 

 

The Redbirds are currently 4-0 on the season after a dominating performance against Detroit Mercy, UMKC and Lewis this past weekend. The Redbirds went 12-3 against the trio of teams, including 4-0 win against both UMKC and Lewis. 

 

Senior Jana Kuskova played a pivotal role this weekend, as she clinched the win in a tight match against Detroit Mercy.  She is currently undefeated with a 3-0 record in singles and 3-0 in doubles as well.  Freshman Tara Damnjanovic is also undefeated in singles, posting a 2-0 record.

 

The last time the Redbirds and Chicago State met up was last season, where the 'Birds defeated Chicago state 7-0.  Chicago State is 0-1 coming into Normal.

 

The 'Birds are 11-9 all-time against the Flames, including when UIC defeated the ISU 7-0 last season. UIC went on to win the Horizon League regular season title led by their Coach of the Year Shannon Tully. The Flames also placed second in the Horizon League tournament. The Flames are currently 1-3 on the season.

 

The Redbirds will play at the Bloomington Tennis Center, and as always admission is free.
