Redbirds Close in Fourth Place at Dayton Women’s Golf Fall Invitational

KETTERING, Ohio – Led by a top-three finish from senior Becca Black, the Illinois State Redbirds closed play at the 2019 Dayton Women's Golf Fall Invitational in fourth place in the strong field.

Black had even rounds of 73-73 on the par-70 course, which put her into a tie for third place in the field.

The Redbirds' second-round 310 gave ISU a two-round score of 611. Butler was the team champion at the event with a two-round 605 while Dayton (608) and Findlay (608) tied for second. Youngstown State (615), Cleveland State (623), Tennessee Tech (628), Ohio (630), Valparaiso (633), and Detroit (635) rounded out the top 10 teams in the 14-team field.

Black recorded 15 pars over the course of the day to go along with a trio of bogeys to finish three strokes over par for the second consecutive round. Individually only Ohio State's Sofia Seldemirova (+3) and Dayton's Ellie Cronin (+5) finished ahead of the Redbird senior.

Emma Rouger, after struggling on the first day, bounced back and improved her score by eight strokes, carding a final-round 77, which was second best on the team. Rouger had 13 pars on the day in finishing seven strokes over par and tied for 46th overall in the tournament.

Tatum King also improved on her first-day score with a second-round 79, which included two birdies and seven pars over the 18 holes. For her efforts, King tied for 41st overall in the field of 85 golfers.

Both Paige Seiser and Ali Schrock closed the tournament with 11-over par 81's on the day, and both Seiser and Schrock had matching days of eight pars, nine bogeys and a double bogey. Schrock ended the two days with a 14-over total and tied for 18th, while Seiser closed the tournament 15 strokes over par and tied for 22nd.

Playing as an individual, Morgan Savage had a team-best three birdies on her round and finished with an eight-over 78 on the day and 18 over for the tournament which is tied for 35th in the field.

After a weekend off, the Redbirds return to action for the final time in the 2019 fall season as the squad travels to Kapolei, Hawai'i, to compete in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational from Oct. 28-30.
