ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Senior Becca Black has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for her performance at the Dayton Invitational.
Black stayed consistent throughout the two round, 36-hole tournament, shooting three strokes over par (73) in both rounds. After finishing six strokes over par (146), she finished in the top three, tied for third place.
This is Black's first Golfer of the Week honors of her career, and it is the first Golfer of the Week honors earned this season by the team.
Illinois State finished in fourth place of 14 teams with a score of 611 (+51). The Redbirds finished five places above conference rival, Valparaiso (633, +73). The top three teams of the field included Butler (+45), Findlay (+48), and tournament host Dayton (+48).
The squad will return back to action Oct. 28-30 when they compete in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Kapolei, Hawai'i.
