COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Illinois State's men's tennis team completed day 3 at the ITA Midwest Regionals at Ohio State Saturday.
Diego Le Gal Perez came up short playing against Ohio State's Kyle Seeling, 6-1, 6-2, in the main draw.
In the singles main draw consolation, Diego Herrera defeated Cleveland State's Luke Phillips, earning a 7-6 (3), 5-7, 1-0 (6) victory.
"I was super pleased with the way we played and competed in what is arguably the toughest region in the country. Our doubles matches were played at a much higher level then earlier in the fall and that is just giving me more confidence in how much better we can still get" head coach Mark Kysler said. "Singles was great as we won many matches against big time programs and really solidified that we can play at the level of the top schools in the country."
The Redbirds will head home to host the Redbird Invitational Friday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, Nov. 3 at the Bloomington Tennis Center in Bloomington, Illinois.
