KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Illinois State men's tennis team completed day one of the WMU Vredevelt Invitational at Sorensen Courts in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Play included two rounds of singles and two rounds of doubles.
"Today went well with some positive results and I saw our doubles teams get much stronger as the day went on. I can definitely see some improvements in certain guys' games and that's great to see," said head coach Mark Klysner.
The Redbirds started the day off with single matches, where Diego Le Gal Perez defeated Western Michigan's Zac Faveri with a 10-7 tiebreaker. Jorge Adair Bartra Quispe picked up a win against over Kasper Parlklo of UIC (6-2, 6-3).
In doubles action, Le Gal Perez and Brandon Lew came up short with a 6-4 loss against Strandberg and Dos Santos from UIC, but later went on to win a match against Kazuki Matsuno and Carson Gates from MSU (6-4).
