NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State men's tennis coach Mark Klysner announced the addition of Melker Isaakson to the 2019-20 roster.
"I chose Illinois State because it is a great school academically," said Isaackson."A high graduation rate is a sign that the school is doing something right. The tennis also seemed to be very good and I feel like both the coaches and players seemed very motivated. A big plus as well is the fact that it's quite a big school and I'm really excited to experience the college culture."
Isaakson was ranked No. 9 from his homeland of Sweden, and has a UTR rating of 12.
Klysner on Isaakson:""I am extremely happy to add Melker Isaakson to our program starting in January. Starting from our first conversations, it was evident that Melker was a very driven individual and he expressed his desire to play and compete at a high level all the while seeking to play professionally after college. His academics are strong which is important to us and I am looking forward to Melker joining us in a few weeks."
Isaakson was also recruited by Monmouth, West Florida, Southern Utah, Rollins College, Idaho State and San Francisco.
The ISU men's tennis team will open up its spring season on Jan. 15 with a match against Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois.
