BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team defeated UWGB, 6-1, Sunday, Feb. 17 at the Bloomington Tennis Center in Bloomington, Illinois.
"I was very pleased with how we played tonight," head coach Mark Klysner. "That was some of our better doubles of the year and that definitely carried us into the singles matches. Collectively, this was one of our best matches so far this spring."
Doubles partners Diego Le Gal Perez and Igor Kolaric earned the first doubles win by overcoming Charlie Croxford and Lachlan Napier. Jorge Adair Bartra Quispe and Diego Al Moura Herrera captured the doubles point with their win over Dipin Wadhwa and Charlie Ridout.
In singles, Aleksa Lazarevic improved his record to 10-1 with his win over Lachlan Napier. Kolaric picked up a victory in the No. 1 spot over James Ling.
Quispe clinched the match for the 'Birds by defeating Wadhwa in flight three. Le Gal Perez brought his record to 6-3 by overcoming Charlie Croxford.
Herrera fell in a three-set match to Miles McDowall in the No. 4 spot. Egehan Sertkaya captured a win against Ivan Radomirovic to finish the match.
The Redbirds will hit the road Wednesday, Feb. 27 for a match against St. Louis in St. Louis, Missouri.
